Anyway to speed up this ridiculous download speed?
So I searched for "continuous speed test" on the internet, found a suitable continuous download test utility, ran and set that to a trickle and sure enough: I have an installed and patched FFXIV client completed in about a half hour using reasonable and expected DL speeds. That's caused by a router port conflict. Aka, someone on your network is using a majority of your downstream, thus it can't handshake and download much.
That or your ports are just blocked, open em up. I have the same problem. Download speeds of about 0. The fact that this is still happening so long after the release is just disappointing, I shouldn't have to know how to go into a router to reconfigure it to run a simple game; and for the record, I do know how and even now, when I have put various port forwarding on, it still downloads too slowly to work.
